Elite IM Camp
Camp Description
The Elite IM Specialty camp is a highly-technical, five-day, overnight training program for campers ages 13-18. With a coach-to-swimmer ratio of 1:7, this camp introduces swimmers to the most up-to-date and proven methods for maximizing their potential in each portion of the IM. Swimmers will work on race strategy, transitions between the strokes and underwater swimming – the key elements to a great IM.
Campers will have the opportunity to work closely with Jessen Book, Head Women's Coach at Kenyon College, and a former assistant at The Ohio State University. A 2001 graduate of Kenyon College, Coach Book was a member of four National Championship teams at Kenyon and earned All-American honors in the 1999-2000 season. During his time at Ohio State, he helped to turn around the Buckeye Men's team from a fifth place finish in the Big 10 into a first place finish before taking on his new role at Kenyon. Coach Book will share his insight on the techniques, philosophy and mindset of the top IMers.
Coaches can rest easy knowing their athlete won't get out of shape. Three highly-specialized practice sessions are shorter in yardage and duration, but ensure that swimmers maintain their aerobic capacity.
Highly specific training drills and dryland routines, and powerful psychological techniques maximize potential by helping individuals adjust to the dynamics of fast swimming.
* New in 2012
The Elite IM Camp is lucky to overlap with the 2012 Olympic Trials! This allows us to incorporate an exciting new feature to the camp – Olympic Trial Analysis Sessions – where our Elite campers and coaching staff will “view and review” the top techniques and race strategies used by our nations fastest swimmers, and then immediately apply these lessons in the pool! An opportunity like this only comes around once every four years!
