Petra Martin
PERFORMANCE EXPERT - ELITE SPECIALTY CAMP
Petra Martin was recently named the Head Women’s Swimming Coach at Bowling Green State University, after serving as the assistant coach at George Mason University and the University of Maryland. While at George Mason, Martin coached several World Championship trials qualifiers and worked directly with Division I All-Americans. Her sprinters broke numerous GMU and Colonial Athletic Association records, and achieved NCAA Division I “A” and “B” qualifying standards. She also has experience in a variety of positions with several different club teams, including the Fort Belvoir Swim Team in Alexandria, the Potomac Raiders Swim Club from 2003-2005, and the Maryland Masters Swim Team.
In her own swimming career, Martin was a top sprinter for the Czech National Team from 1996-2004, representing her country at the European Championships, World Cup and other international competitions. In 2000, she set a Czech national record, and was ranked in the top 25 worldwide in the 50 freestyle and 50 butterfly. As an undergraduate at the University of Maryland, Martin was a four time Academic All-American, as well as an honorable mention All-American in the 200-meter and 400-meter freestyle relays.
