Mike Bottom
PERFORMANCE EXPERT - ELITE SPRINT SPECIALTY CAMPS
***WILL BE PRESENT AT THE KENYON SPRINT SPECIALTY CAMP***
As a co-founder of the Elite Sprint Specialty Camps, Mike Bottom returns to TPSC for his 15th year. Finishing his second year as the men's head coach at University of Michigan, Bottom led the Wolverines to a second-place finish at the Big Ten Championships and a 10th straight top-10 NCAA finish in 2010.
During his tenure as the head coach for the Race Club, Bottom coached such notable swimmers as butterflyer Mike Kavic (silver medalist in the 100 fly at the 2008 Beijing Olympics), Gary Hall, Jr. (two-time gold medalist) , Anthony Irvin (gold medalist) and Duje Draganja (silver medalist). From the 1996-2004 Olympiads, nine of the 18 medals awarded in the 50- and 100-meter freestyle events have been won by Bottom's swimmers--evidence of Bottom's sprinting genius. Members of Bottom's "World Team" won five Olympic Medals in 2000 Sydney - more than any US men's Olympic coach. From 1992-94 Bottom directed the ultra sprint program at Auburn and established a new era for speed training.
As a swimmer Bottom is a former World Record Holder in the 100 Fly and member of the 1980 Olympic team and part of three NCAA Championship teams at the University of Southern California.
